Sri Jagannath Ratha Yatra 2023
About Sri Jagannath Ratha Yatra
Ratha Yatra, The festival of Chariots, is celebrated originally in Jagannath Puri Orissa from time Immemorial. Srila Prabhupada The Founder-Acharya of ISKCON Introduced this Ratha Yatra Festival in ISKCON Centres around the world. The First Ratha Yatra was held in 1976 in San Francisco. Srila Prabhupada said, “If you participate in these Chariot festivals and see the deities riding on these chariots you will go back home back to godhead at the end of this life”. To give this opportunity to everyone in the Trichy locality ISKCON Srirangam and Trichy organizes the Ratha Yatra festival for the first time in Trichy City on 24th June 2023. This is a festival in which hundreds of devout pilgrims participate every year without the consideration of caste, creed, or sect. We now wish to hold this festival in our Trichy to promote world peace & harmony.
Features of the Ratha
Our Ratha will be a blend of modern technology and ancient tradition. Despite its traditional looks, it will have the state of art features like Air brakes and a steering wheel, with very good suspension systems. The canopy of the Ratha can be moved vertically upwards or downwards to adjust the height between 12 to 18 feet. The Ratha will have 65 feet long sturdy rope on either side of it (one for men and the other for women) making it possible for about 300 persons to pull it at a time.
Invitation for Ratha Yatra 2023
Dear Devotee
HARE KRISHNA!
Greetings and blessings of Lord Krishna to all! Festivals have always played an important role in bringing devotees together. We humbly request your support for the upcoming Jagannath Ratha Yatra festival in Srirangam. This event is a beloved tradition for residents and visitors alike, and we need your help to ensure its success.
The Jagannath Ratha Yatra festival is one of the most important annual events in the famous temple “Jagannath Puri”. It celebrates the journey of Lord Jagannath, who is believed to travel from his temple to visit his aunt in another part of the city. The festival is a joyous occasion that brings the community together to celebrate their faith and cultural heritage. However, putting on such a large event in Trichy can be expensive. We need donations to pay for making arrangements for Annadanam for more than 10000 people, the program venue rent along with other essential expenses like gas, electricity, decorations, stages, etc,. Your donation will go a long way in helping us keep this important tradition alive. Your donation will not only support the Ratha Yatra festival, but it will also help promote cultural understanding and unity in our country. We believe that events like this are essential for bridging gaps and creating a sense of camaraderie among individuals from different backgrounds. We hope you will consider making a donation to support the Jagannath Ratha Yatra festival. Your contribution will make a real difference and help ensure that this important tradition continues for years to come.

Janmasthami
Janmashtami is a grand celebration to commemorate the appearance of Lord Krishna on the eighth day of the Bhadrapada month. The celebrations at ISKCON Indore revolve around the all-encompassing Lord Krishna, and Janmashtami is perhaps the biggest of them all. ISKCON Janmashtami celebration happens all across the world with great Devotion.
Though unborn and eternal, the Supreme Lord, of His free will and causeless mercy, incarnates to deliver the pious and annihilate the miscreants. Lord Krishna appeared as the son of Vasudeva and Devaki, but had His childhood pastimes at Gokula, Vrindavan.Janmashtami is celebrated very gorgeously in Indore.
The Bhagavatam classes focus on the transcendental tattva, janma and karma of Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. On the eve of Janmashtami, an adhivasa ceremony is performed in the evening to invoke auspiciousness and help devotees prepare themselves for the next day’s festival.
NagarSankirtan
Nagar means “street” and “sankirtan” means congregational chanting. Srila Prabhupada considered public chanting to be the heart and soul of the Hare Krishna movement. In his correspondence to devotees, he would encourage them to engage in Sankirtana on the streets and during college engagements.
Lord Caitanya inaugurated Nagar Sankirtan with thousands of devotees, in the face of threats of imprisonment, torture and death.Devotees around the world continue to perform Nagar Sankirtan to the best of their capacity. In the context of the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 pandemic, ISKCON Kirtan Ministry encourages caution and compliance with the laws of local governments.
