About ISKCON Trichy At Ponmalai(The Golden Rock)
ISKCON has established a modest temple, a center for Vedic heritage, at the foothills of Ponmalai. Since 2014, Sri Krishna Balarama, Parama Karuna Sri Sri Nitai Gaurachandra), the presiding deities of the temple are showering their blessings upon devotees in and around this area.Lord Krishna is residing eternally in Srirangam as Sri Ranganathaswamy.
According to the legend, Arjuna received bountiful treasures from several kings of this region for conducting Rajasuya Yajna in Hastinapura. And as he found it difficult to move all the treasures to Hastinapura in one go, he placed a single rock hill atop them to keep them safe. Ponmalai is said to be the same hill moved by Arjuna to protect his treasure. From the foothill of this Ponmalai, we want to give away the greatest of all treasures Arjuna got from Krishna, “Srimad Bhagavad Gita,” to the people of Trichy and pilgrims visiting Srirangam.
With the blessings of ISKCON’s Founder-Acharya, HDG Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, ISKCON Trichy is eager to raise a Sanctum Sanctorum commemorating the great Scripture Srimad Bhagavad Gita, spoken by Lord Krishna who is none other than Sriranganatha swamy to the great devotee Arjuna who visited this spot where ISKCON is situated now .
We sincerely hope that pious residents of Trichy would come forward and assist in building a temple for Them at the foothills of Ponmalai and engage themselves in the Vaak Seva of Sri Ranganathaswamy, by helping to spread the knowledge of Bhagavad Gita.
